You don't see an Elkhart 8D in this great of condition for sale very often, and especially from the 500,000 series era! This "closet find" horn was made in the mid 1950s and is certainly one of the last "survivor" 500,000 series Elkharts. This horn is an amazing player, and is exactly what you would want from a classic Conn 8D. It plays like the golden era of Kruspe horns, with a big, velvety tone, beautiful slurs, and an even sound in all registers. The low register on this horn is amazing, the response is quick, the high register sings, and the projection is clear. What a great professional horn this is!
The original valves have near perfect compression, the lacquer is 99% intact, and there are no major dents on the horn. There are a few dings on it (indicating it has seen at least some playing time) and unfortunately a large dent was in the bell tail when it arrived to me (shipping damage). Thankfully I was able to take the dent out and make the area near perfectly round again, but you should know that this was there and you can (barely) see it in the bell tail. I will ship the horn with great care, of course, so that this kind of damage doesn't occur again!
A brand new ProTec Max case is included with this horn. Unfortunately I don't have the original case. No mouthpiece is included.

This instrument may be returned up to one week after the horn is delivered. If the horn is returned, the customer will be responsible for all shipping costs both to and from the buyer. If the instrument is damaged in the possession of the customer, all repairs will be the sole responsibility of the customer.
