A video demonstration of this horn can be seen here.
This H178 is in really good shape. It plays quite beautifully, with quite a bit of "zip" (so I call it) in the sound, yet the softs are very smooth. It is a horn I'd consider to be a great chamber instrument, but it could also work in an orchestral section. It's softs are very solid, it's louds get pretty brassy. This is a great horn overall. Very easy to play! I haven't found a bad note on this horn. Sometimes I do on Holtons, but this particular ones plays right in tune and very beautifully in all registers.
There are some minor dings and scratches throughout and some lacquer wear, but nothing bad at all. The valves have very solid compression (perhaps the best compression I've seen in a Holton), the slides all move great, and the horn plays wonderfully. It has been professionally cleaned and serviced and is ready to play. This is a great instrument!
Included is a Holton case which is not original to the horn, but is in good used condition. The outer cloth layer has separated some from the bell area of the horn (a very common problem on these cases) but it is overall in great shape, looks good, and protects the horn very well. No mouthpiece is included, but I can send a student mouthpiece (Holton Farkas or similar) if you request upon purchase.
