This upgraded H178 really is a fine horn. The H178 is a pretty good horn overall. They are very similar to the popular H179, but with a medium throat yellow brass bell and a yellow brass body. So ultimately they are quite a bit different than the 179. They play with a little more brightness and what I like to call "zip" (zing in the sound).
 
But with this Cantesanu leadpipe, which I installed, this horn is certainly on another level. It is amazing how replacing the leadpipe from the stock leadpipe has helped this horn! It plays with a clear, projective, beautiful sound, smooth slurs, clean articulations, and is really simply easy to play! It is everything you'd want in a horn.

The valves on this horn are fantastic - they have near perfect compression, are quick and quiet. The slides all work well, and the horn is ready to play!
 
Cosmetically this horn is in decent shape. The lacquer has some wear, and there are some minor dings and scratches in the horn. But all these things are cosmetic and do not affect how the horn plays.
 
One final thing to note is that the horn does have a smaller hand grip. If you have large hands, this may not be a very comfortable horn for you ergonomically. But if you have normal to small sized hands, it should work just fine.
 
Included is a good condition Holton hard case in good used condition. The outer cloth has lifted in some places, but this isn't a big deal and is very common on these cases. No mouthpiece is included, but if you need a mouthpiece with the horn, contact me when you purchase it and I can send a standard student mouthpiece (Holton MC or similar) with the horn.
 
Overall this is a fantastic horn that really should be considered by anyone looking for a great horn that won't be too expensive, but will play great and last a long time if well cared for.
