A video demonstration (which includes this bell and two others) can be seen here.
This is a genuine Engelbert Schimd bell, hand hammed with a garland. It is a Wide (W) throat. It sounds great - with a darker, beautiful Schmid sound. Schmid states the following about his hand hammered bells on his website: "A hand hammered bell sounds more old fashioned, darker, than a spun bell. The thin end of the bell produces a very warm center to the tone in piano, and at the same time a more pleasant brassiness in fortissimo. The hand hammered bells are available with or without garland."
Here are things to know about this particular bell flare.
- There are minor dings and scratches (nothing bad at all) - this is a used bell.
- There is one noticable crease in the flare - purely cosmetic.
- The ring set on this bell is specific to Schmid horns. It will not work with Alexander rings. If you have any questions about this, please contact me!
- This bell is lacquered, but the lacquer job is likely aftermarket. It is good looking, though.
