A video demonstration of this horn can be seen here.

This is a great Geyer style horn. Finke, of course, is known for making hand-made horns in a small shop in Germany. They are most famous for their synthetic valves, which are very fast and light and don't wear out as quickly as conventional valves. This horn has the same synthetic valves as the Brendan I once sold. They are very fast and light. The screw bell screws on and off well. It is easy to line up, though it is a tad stiff (this is not considered a problem). This is a great horn - it plays beautifully - better than most horns at this price point! It has a great high range and a beautiful singing tone!

This horn has mechanical linkage for the valves. These linkages are well made, although they make a bit more noise than other mechanical linkages I've seen on Alexander, Finke, and similar horns. I had to do quite a bit of adjusting when I first got the horn to make them to not be loud, but after the adjustment they sound about as quiet as mechanical linkage of this type can. They feel fine, and they cannot be heard when the horn is being played.

I stripped the lacquer in my shop here - interestingly, most of the lacquer came off easily, but then there were a few stubborn spots where the lacquer refused to come off. So there are a few spots left. This is a fine thing for the horn - not affecting how it plays, but if you look closely you can see them. There are also a few minor dents and dings throughout the horn. Nothing bad though, and certainly nothing affecting how the horn plays.

I do think this would be a fantastic horn for a junior high, high school or college player (especially a non-major). This could also be a great horn for a community player or someone looking for a great sounding, solid backup horn.

Because the horn is European shank, it requires a European shank mouthpiece. While I don't usually do this, I have decided to include a lightly used Laskey 775GEU mouthpiece that I found works fantastic with the horn. Hopefully this will make this a great package for someone!

A really nice, solid hard shell screw-bell case is also included.
