I don't see too many Frank Holton horns anymore, but the ones I have seen in good shape really do play nicely. This horn is no exception. It has a beautiful, clear, singing sound and plays quite easily. The horn is chamberesque in sound (not extremely powerful) but has a bright sound that carries well.
 
This horn has certainly been overhauled at some point in it's life. The lacquer is in near perfect condition (there are a couple spots of wear, but they are hardly noticeable). The valves have been rebuilt and have great compression. I do believe the leadpipe has been replaced at some point. It is a gold brass leadpipe. Do be aware that normal American shank mouthpieces do not sit down as far as you would expect into this leadpipe. That said, I have had no playing issues, and the mouthpiece still sits completely securely in the leadpipe.
 
UPDATE: after listing I noticed one other small issue that had to do with a solder joint on the 2nd valve slide. I repaired that solder joint, but there was a slight bit of lacquer burn that resulted. I've pictured this in the LAST photo in this listing.
 
The third valve does make a small bit of noise that I was not able to completely correct. That said, it is near impossible to hear it when playing. The other three valves are very quiet.
 
Included is a used but good MTS hard case. It has some scuffs from normal use, but nothing bad at all. No mouthpiece is included.
 
NOTE: all proceeds made from this horn will go to support the high school seniors at the school I teach band at. Every year the seniors raise money through working and raising money in different ways. I've decided to donate 100% of the proceeds of this horn to them.
