For sale is a very nice Conn 8D, SN H95360 (1966). This horn plays very well, with all the characteristics expected from an Elkhart 8D. All notes slot beautifully, and the tone is warm and even. This horn may be in original condition, though I cannot prove that it has not been relacquered at some point. There is no evidence that any major dents have been removed from this horn. It is a fantastic Elkhart 8D 'survivor' horn!
There are some minor dents on the top of the horn just before the bell tail. I have pictured these.
There are very minor spots of lacquer wear, but I'd estimate that the lacquer is about 99% intact.
One thing to note is that the valves will need rebuilding in the future, especially if the horn gets played heavily. The valves are not to the point of leaking while playing - there is still some compression, but it is getting low and is something to be considered when looking at this horn.
The case included is, I believe, the original case to the horn. It is in very good condition for the age. The feet are all intact, there are no tears in the cloth. There are a few minor marks from use on the outside plastic, but nothing at.
No mouthpiece is included, but if you need one, I'm willing to include a standard mouthpiece (such as a Conn or Holton) if requested.
All horns sold at Boyd's Brass (unless otherwise noted) come with a one week return period. The period starts on the day the package is marked "delivered" by the carrier. The buyer pays all shipping costs (to and from) if the horn is returned.
